Tips to Avoid Separation Anxiety by Mrs Bargains Recommends

Hello, the only thing I know I did right as a parent was avoid separation anxiety.

1. Prepare the child in advance of the event. Let them know where they are going, what they will be doing there, and that you will pick them up when they are done. Avoid saying things like "they will take care of you" and "you will be gone all day." Answer any questions they may have and try to keep them child centric.

2. A few days before the event, start letting them know that in 3 wakes, you will start going to.... and remind them of the fun, let them know you will be at home doing such and such. And each day will pick them up. And what they have to wear and bring.

3 On the day, get up 2 hours early. Get dressed first. You can entice with breakfast and teeth brushing and the event. Remind them where they are going, what they are doing, and you will get them when they are done.

4 Now the hard part, dropping off, most important - be calm. Tell them where they are, what they will be doing, and in a long time, when they are done, you will get them. Once they are with the new supervisor and have been properly introduced. Hug and kiss, love you, and by. And leave (this part is really important, leave!) Do not linger or ask questions or worry or fret or wonder or just have to one more thing, just go. Even if they are screaming, crying, or ignoring you. (Hopefully, there will be no screaming because you prepared them properly.

5 Pick them up when they are done

Once the child knows the routine can be trusted, if there were issues separating, the upset departures should dissipate. Good luck. You can do this!
